We quickly forget how Operation Anchorage, Broken Steel, and Mothership Zeta were all essentially shooting galleries with very little choice, input from the player, or nuance when it came to friend and foe for the most part.
Honestly in the Far Harbor and Nuka World Dlc's I feel like Fallout 4 is actually more nuanced than Fallout 3 tended to be when it came to its quests and characters with you getting involved in the politics between multiple different factions with clear differences in their ideologies and many of the quests stemming from that. I really don't see how you could have forgotten about how prevalent go here and shoot things was in Fallout 3.
